The European Grassroots Antiracist Movement - EGAM - was launched in November 2010 under the impetus of SOS Racisme (France) to structure and empower the European antiracist civil society.
Today, EGAM gathers the greatest antiracist civil society organization from 40 countries all over the continent, and is actively involved in order to make our European dream of a continent free of racism, antisemitism and racial discriminations, come true.
In this perspective, we conduct grassroots actions together, such as the First European Testing Night against racial discriminations in nightlife places that we organized in March 2011.
Not only are we changing the reality in our home countries, but we are also making the voice of the European civil society being heard at the top of the European intellectual, political and institutional levels.
Independently from, but in relationship with the European institutions, we are building a Europe where citizens, as Martin Luther King said "will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character".
The Mission of EGAM is to fight racism, antisemitism and racial discriminations in Europe at both grassroots and institutional levels.
The objectives of EGAM are :
- To strenghten the antiracist sector in each European country.
- To make action together.
- To provide the European antiracist civil society with an access to the European political and institutional powers.
